Zanzibar. CUF Secretary-General  Seif Shariff Hamad has said he will accept the October General Election results provided that the electoral process would be free and fair.

He issued the statement at the Bububu party offices in the Isles shortly after picking up nomination forms to seek his party’s endorsement for the Zanzibar presidency come the October General Election.

Mr Hamad, who if endorsed by his party, will on this year participate in the race for the fifth time, said he expected to be elected the Isle’s President in this year’s election.

“Let me assure Zanzibaris that once they vote me into office, I’ll not allow anyone to play with that victory,” said.

Commenting on the status of his health, Mr Hamad said he was joining in the race because he was sure that he was fit to serve wananchi and that they should not worry about his health.

He also revealed that once he is elected to the Isle’s top office, his priority would be on creating more jobs for the youth, especially by strengthening production activities in the free economic zones.

Meanwhile, Mr Hamad, who doubles as Zanzibar’s First Vice President, challenged other party members to also vie for the post because it was their constitutional right.

Picking up of application forms for Presidency on  a CUF ticket in the Isles commenced on Tuesday this week and will end on Sunday.

The ceremony was attended by several CUF leaders including those who are ministers in the government of National Unity that was formed immediately after the 2010 polls.
