The plant, located in the Nala Industrial Area in Dodoma, was officially launched on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in a ceremony also attended by Burundi President Major General (Rtd) Evariste Ndayishimiye.
Speaking in Dodoma, Synergy Africa CEO Adeline Ndesanjo applauded President Hassan’s leadership and commended Agriculture Minister Hussein Bashe for his role in facilitating the strategic investment.
“Today, Tanzanian farmers stand on the threshold of a new era,” Ms Ndesanjo said. “The ITRACOM Fertilizer Factory will enable the local production of affordable, high-quality fertilizers, which is critical to transforming our agriculture.”
With a production capacity of over one million tonnes of organo-mineral fertilizers annually, the factory is expected to reduce reliance on imported inputs, stabilise supply chains and lower production costs for farmers.
Ms Ndesanjo noted that the benefits would extend across rural communities, improving food security and livelihoods through increased agricultural productivity.
She also acknowledged the support of CRDB Bank in financing the venture, describing it as a successful example of public-private partnership in action.
“This project demonstrates the transformative impact of collaboration between government, private investors, and financial institutions,” she added.
Synergy Africa urged replication of similar partnerships to drive investment in key areas such as smart irrigation, seed technologies, mechanisation, and agri-finance.
“The launch of ITRACOM is not just the opening of a factory—it marks the beginning of a new chapter in Tanzania’s agricultural journey,” said Ms Ndesanjo. “Under President Samia’s leadership, we are advancing towards true self-reliance and shared prosperity.”
