Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Meteorological Authority (TMA) is sounding the alarm as it forecasts intense rainfall across 11 regions over the next few days, starting today, Saturday, November 30, 2024.

Residents in several parts of the country are urged to prepare for heavy rain and potential disruptions.

The affected regions span three different zones: the Southern Highlands, the Southern Coastal Belt, and the Central Zone.

This includes areas such as Mbeya, Songwe, Iringa, Njombe, and Rukwa in the Southern Highlands; Lindi and Mtwara along the Indian Ocean's Southern Coast; and Dodoma, Singida, and Ruvuma in the Central and Southern zones with Morogoro also falling within the forecast area.

TMA’s warning, issued late Friday, November 29, 2024, predicts five days of severe weather, lasting until Tuesday, December 3, 2024.

The downpours are expected to be particularly intense in the Southern Highlands, where the rains will impact regions like Mbeya, Iringa, Njombe, Rukwa, and Songwe.

The Southern Coastal Belt and parts of the Central Zone, including Dodoma and Singida, will also be hit hard.

The forecast also warns of rain in parts of the Northern Coastal Belt on Sunday, December 1, 2024, and scattered showers in Ruvuma and Morogoro regions.

This fresh warning comes just six days after TMA issued a similar alert for the Northeastern Highlands, which included Arusha, Manyara, and Kilimanjaro regions.

Additionally, several western regions, such as Kigoma, Tabora, and Katavi, are also under the threat of rain.

As these heavy rains approach, TMA urges residents to stay vigilant, monitor local weather reports, and take necessary precautions to avoid potential flooding and other hazards.
