Utilise India PM’s visit, traders told

The Indian Prime Minister is scheduled to fly in on Saturday evening as he continues his four-nation African tour which kicked off Thursday in Mozambique.

Dar es Salaam Tanzanians have a lot to benefit from the two-day visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi if they position themselves for the opportunities he is putting on the table, the government has said. 

The Indian Prime Minister is scheduled to fly in on Saturday evening as he continues his four-nation African tour which kicked off Thursday in Mozambique.

He will also visit Kenya and South Africa in yet another charm offensive to promote his country’s goods, services and investments.

Foreign Affairs minister Augustine Mahiga on Friday urged Tanzanian farmers and businessmen to grab their fair share of the huge Indian market for their agricultural products.

The minister said there was high demand for cereals, chick peas and beans, among other crops in India.

Mr Modi entourage will have about 50 businessmen from various sectors in India whose mission will be looking for opportunities for investment and joint ventures.
