Dar swimming prodigy for US junior tourney

Dar es Salaam. Tanzania’s up-and-coming swimmer, Natalia Ladha leaves for the United States on Saturday for the Florida Gold Coast Junior Championship.

Natalia, one of the country’s best swimmers in the Under-10 category, will be competing in the US championship for the second time.

She will swim for Florida’s Swimfast Club in this year’s championship, according to Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA).

Last year, Natalia, a member of Tanzania Life Saving Society Swimming Club (Taliss), won bronze medals in the Miami Championship in the girls’ 50m and 100m backstroke styles.

In an interview with The Citizen yesterday, the gifted swimmer said she was in great shape, looking forward to leave her mark in the US Championship.

“I know it will not be an easy task, but I am ready for the challenge,” she said.

Natalia has been claiming medals in various competitions at the International School of Tanganyika (IST) swimming pool.

Early this year, she stole show in the championship that was organised by Tanzania Life Saving Society Swimming Club (Taliss).

She claimed a gold medal in the girls’ 200m freestyle after clocking 2.44.46 at the IST pool in the city.
