Dar Gymkhana's golfer Ocholla wins ICEA Lion event

Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club golfer Joram Ocholla has sparked to win an inaugural ICEA Lion Monthly Mug tournament.

The one-day event was held at the Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club course, featuring 75 golfers.

Ocholla collected 71 net strokes to win a Division A category in the thrilling event.

Speaking with The Citizen, Ocholla, who is also the Director of Operations and Administration at Holtan E.A Limited, said he faced stiff competition from other golfers who also target the top honours.

“I am very happy to win the title. It was not an easy task because most of the golfers targeted the top honor. I had to be very keen all the time during the competition,” said Ocholla.

He said it was his first time winning the Monthly Mug golf event, despite his success in various other golf tournaments. The event saw Taha Jabir and David Jansen secure the second and third positions after recording 72 and 76 net strokes, respectively.

In Division B, Amit Barai won the first position with 74 net strokes on countback, while Khalaf Rashid placed second, also with 74 net strokes on countback, and Kunal Lathani secured the third position with 74 net strokes on countback as well.

In Division C, Mikoh Mwakawago claimed the top spot after recording 68 net strokes, followed by Rodjey Mwakawago with 72 net strokes, and Kiye Mwakawago in third place with 75 net strokes.

In the ladies' category, Ayne Magombe emerged at the top after registering 78 net strokes, while Yasmin Chali recorded 80 net strokes to finish in the second position.

Special recognition was also extended to the guest winners, Michael Monne and Jennifer Mbarawa, who displayed exemplary skill and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.

The ICEA Lion Monthly Mug Golf Tournament not only celebrated the achievements of these exceptional golfers but also highlighted ICEA Lion's commitment to promoting the growth and development of golf in Tanzania.
