Simba face tough test of Ruvu today

Dar es Salaam. Football giants ,Simba SC, square off with Ruvu Shooting FC today at 7pm in the ongoing NBC Premier League at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The Msimbazi Street heavyweights will likely be out to grab the three points in order to go top of the league standings and leapfrog their traditional rivals, Yanga.

Simba have so far collected 24 points from 11 matches while Yanga, as they are popularly known, top the league table with 26 points from 10 matches.

Ruvu Shooting FC will also target victory in order to improve their chances in the league standings. The team are placed 13th with 11 points from 12 matches.

Speaking ahead of the match, the Simba head coach Juma Mgunda exuded confidence that his team will get the three points, saying that they have targeted to win every match with a view to reclaiming the league title.

“We are expecting to face a strong opposition in the match because Ruvu Shooting FC are also targeting victory in order to improve their chances in the league log,” said Mgunda. He said his players are in good shape ahead of the encounter and ready to deliver a good result.

Ruvu Shooting FC head coach Charles Boniface Mkwasa said yesterday that his team are unfazed by Simba after undergoing intensive training. He stressed that his players are psyched up to face the former champions of the league and grab the three points. “We know that it is not going to be a walk in the park. Simba have good players, but my men are determined to record a win tomorrow (today),” he said.

Victory for Ruvu Shooting will help them climb the league table to the 11th position, leapfrogging Kagera Sugar and Coastal Union.

Meanwhile, tomorrow at 2pm Mbeya City will be hosting Geita Gold FC at the Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya. The hosts are placed sixth in the league log with 17 points after playing 11 matches and should they win today, they will move to the fourth place.

Azam FC will also play tomorrow against Namungo FC at the Majalliwa Stadium in Lindi.
