 recently born male Red Howler monkey, Shongo, holds onto his mother Yerba, on April 2, 2021 at the Planete Sauvage zoologic park in Port-Saint-Pere, outside Nantes. Shongo, born on February 16, is the first red howler monkey to born in captivity in France, and are native to South and Central American forests. The International Union for Conservation of Nature last week identified the red howler monkey in its Red List of threatened species.
