Dar es Salaam. Young Africans has signed for one year Brazilian midfielder Emerson De Oliveira Roque ahead of the ongoing Tanzania Mainland Premier League.

Emerson is replacing another Brazilian player, Geilson Santos, better known as Jaja who opted to part ways with Yanga over family matters.

The new Brazilian midfielder trained only for four days with the team at Loyola High School and impressed the club’s technical bench and officials.

The team head coach, Marcio Maximo, told the club website, Emerson is a good player and believes his efforts with other team players will enable the club to crown the Tanzania Mainland title.

Maximo said that the former Bonscusessco FC midfielder is the player his team needs to challenge on both fronts.

“He is a dynamic and combustive midfielder and that he has the quality to propel Yanga to new heights. I believe with other talented players in the team he will accelerate the club to greater heights,” said Maximo.

Yanga are still in the Vodacom Premier League title hunt and will be looking to perform better in the CAF Confederation Cup early next year. The recruitment of Emerson made the Jangwani Street club to have five players as per rules and regulations governing the game in the country.

Other foreign players are Mbuyu Twite, Haruna Niyonzima, Hamis Kizza and Andrey Coutinho. Young Africans are now in intensive training ahead of the next round and the December 13 special friendly match against Simba Sports Club at the National Stadium.

Technically, the presence of Emerson will make the technical bench shift some players in the midfield and defence.

Mbuyu Twite who was playing as a holding midfielder, will have to move to fullback right which was under Juma Abdul.

Twite was first choice fullback right player before Frank Domayo moved to Azam Football club. Domayo was playing as a holding midfielder in the team.
