Dar es Salaam. Golf enthusiasts across Tanzania and beyond are preparing for an exciting showdown as the 2025 Vodacom Tanzania Open tees off at the Kili Golf Course in Arusha next month.

The tournament will feature prominent golfers from five countries, promising a thrilling competition for fans and participants alike.

Among the confirmed participants is defending champion Greg Snow of Kenya, who clinched the 2024 edition at the same venue. Local favorites are also set to compete, including Nuru Mollel, Isaka Dunia, Madina Idd, Neema Olomi, and Vicky Elias, showcasing the region’s top golfing talent.

Speaking with The Citizen, Tanzania Golf Union (TGU) chairman Gilman Kasiga revealed that over 150 golfers are expected to participate across various categories, including professional and elite divisions.

The stakes are high, with the professional winner set to take home Sh8.2 million from the total Sh35 million prize purse provided by main sponsor Vodacom Tanzania. The runner-up will receive Sh5.4 million, third place Sh3.2 million, fourth Sh2.4 million, and fifth Sh1.9 million, with prize money extended up to the top 22 finishers.

Kasiga emphasized that the tournament is not only a sporting event but also a platform to promote talent, inclusivity, and community engagement in golf. “This tournament inspires emerging golfers, youth, and women, reflecting our commitment to sustainable growth and broadening access to the sport,” he said.

Vodacom Tanzania, marking its 25th anniversary, aims to highlight its ongoing support for golf in the country. Joseph Sayi, Head of Marketing and Enablement at Vodacom Business, stated, “From network services to M-Pesa mobile payments, we are ensuring that everyone enjoys a unique experience both on and off the course.

The Vodacom Tanzania Open demonstrates how sports heritage can merge with technological innovation, and we are proud to be part of this tournament.”

Kasiga lauded Vodacom and other sponsors for their unwavering commitment. “For the third consecutive year, Vodacom has stood by us, showcasing its dedication to sports development and talent growth in Tanzania.

This tournament promotes tourism, investment, and social and economic opportunities while meeting international standards,” he added. HLB Tanzania, a consulting firm and another key sponsor, also reaffirmed its commitment to golf development and community involvement.
