Dar es Salaam. Three players from Young Africans, Simba Sports Club and Azam FC are in the final list of the Tanzania Sports Writers Association (Taswa) 2013/2014 annual sports personality award on December 12 at the Diamond Jubilee VIP Hall.

The players include both National Soccer team (Taifa Stars) and Young Africans captain, Nadir “Cannavaro” Haroub, Erasto Nyoni (Azam FC) and Elias Maguli of Simba Sports club.

The players are contesting in the best football player of the 2013/14 season. Apart of the three players, also the three top teams players namely, Mbuyu Twite (Young Africans), Amisi Tambwe (Simba SC) and Kipre Tchetche of Azam FC are also competing in the category of the foreign players who are playing in the Tanzania Mainland premier league.

Taswa Award chairman, Leure Nyaulawa said the players have been scrutinized from a number who were proposed for the award. Nyaulawa said that Mbwana Samata and Thomas Ulimwengu who are playing for TP Mazembe of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) will contest with cyclist, Richard Laizer in the category of Tanzania players who are playing abroad.

Other nominees according to Nyaulawa are Paralympic men: Raphael Kalukula, Pazi Mwinyimkuu and Hatibu Matali while women are Blandina Blasi, Shida Jaha and Mwanaharusi Risasi. Basketball men (Lusajo Samwel (Oilers), Erick Mchemba (ABC) while in women are Sajda Ahmed Lyamaiga(Don Bosco Lioness), Rehema Silomba (Don Bosco Lioness) and Orlyn Titus of Don Bosco Lioness.

Handball (men); Yohana Wilson, Focus Paul, Deep Vaja women: Valentina Quarantta, Kidawa Seremala and Mary Mhina. Volleyball (men): Kelvin Peter Severino (Magereza), Nassoro Sharifu (Jeshi Stars) and Athuman Rupia (Jeshi Stars), women: Yasinta Remmy (Jeshi Stars), Hellena Richard (Magereza) and Teddy Abwao (Jeshi Stars).

Athletics: Men: Alphonce Felix, Dickson Marwa and Fabian Nelson, women are Zakia Mrisho, Jaqueline Sakilu and Catherine Lange. Cycling: women; Salome Donald, Martha Anthon and Sophia Adson while men are Richard Laizer, Hamisi Mskala and Gerald Konda.

Golf: men; Nuru Mollel, Abasi Adam, Frank Mwinuka, women; Madina Iddi, Hawa Wanyeche and Angel Eaton. Professional golfers: Hassan Kadio, Yassin Salehe and Geoffrey Leverian.

Judokas: men; Kombo Masoud Amour, Mbarouk Mbarouk Sleiman.

Women: Grace Alfonce Mhanga, Salma Omari Othman. Tennis (Disable): men; Novatus Emmanuel Temba, Yohana Assa Mwila, Juma Mohamed Hamisi, women; Rehema Selemani Saidi,Bihawa Mustafa Ituji.
