African leaders agree to liberalise their economies

Dar es Salaam. African leaders have agreed to liberalise economic opportunities in their respective countries so as to stimulate continent economically.

The resolve was reached during the launch of Africa economic Platform in Mauritius in a meeting held on Monday and Tuesday.

Prime Minister, Mr Kassim Majaliwa, who represented President John Magufuli in the meeting, said that African leaders also agreed to start a process towards having a common passport, to facilitate and easy movements within the continent.

Premier Majaliwa said the meeting also agreed to strengthen regional groupings such as East African Community (EAC), Sothern Africa Development Community (SADC) and Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (Comesa) as a gateway to continental economic integration.

“African leaders also observed that industrial economy is what will revitalise Africa economy as it will be the source of income and employment among other benefits. Therefore, the fifth phase government focus in industrialisation is well placed,” he said.
