CCM appoints Waitara for Ukonga, Laizer for Monduli in coming by-elections

  •  Mr Laizer and Mr Waitara were both members of parliament for the constituencies before they resigned from their positions within Chadema and thus lost their statuses as MPs for the respective constituencies.

Dar es Salaam. The ruling party CCM on Tuesday August 14 appointed Mr Julius Kalanga Laizer to run for Monduli Constituency and Mr Mwita Waitara for Ukonga. This comes a few days after the duo defected from the opposition party Chadema, leaving their constituencies open for grab.

 Mr Laizer and Mr Waitara were both members of parliament for the constituencies before they resigned from their positions within Chadema and thus lost their statuses as MPs for the respective constituencies.

Another candidate appointed by the Extraordinary Central Committee (CC) of CCM’s National Executive Committee (NEC) which sat on Tuesday 14 August is Timotheo Mzava who will contest for the Korogwe Rural constituency.

While that was happening today, on their part, Chadema’s Central Committee (CC) will sit tomorrow in its Extraordinary Meeting under the chairmanship of the party’s chairman Freeman Mbowe to firstly receive and discuss the information on the last by-elections for members of parliament and councilors, the statement by the party’s spokespaerson Tumaini Makene stated.
