Egyptian President Al-Sisi set to visit Tanzania next week

Speaking to reporters on Friday, the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation, Mr Aziz Mlima said that the Egyptian president’s visit would strengthen the cooperation that Tanzania has with the Northern African country.


Dar es Salaam. President of Egypt, Abdel Al-sisi is expected to make a two-day state visit in Tanzania next week, on the invitation of President John Magufuli.

Speaking to reporters on Friday, the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East Africa Cooperation, Mr Aziz Mlima said that the Egyptian president’s visit would strengthen the cooperation that Tanzania has with the Northern African country.

"Tanzania and Egypt’s cooperation has been laid by our first president Mwalimu Nyerere and the first president of Egypt, mostly in various fields like fighting for human rights, diplomacy, emancipation of the African continent against colonialism and education" he said.

The aim of this visit is to strengthen the relationship between Tanzania and Egypt in the fields of economics and social diplomacy, he added.

President Al Sisi is expected to hold talks with President Magufuli then join president Magufuli on a special dinner. 

Also according to the statistics from Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Tanzania has signed a total of 8 projects worth $887.02million which gave employment to 953 locals in the duration of 27 years from 1990 to 2017. This was in the sectors of agriculture and industries.

The PS told journalists that the state visit was in line with Tanzania’s agenda on promoting industrialization.
