Dar es Salaam. Home Affairs minister Kangi Lugola has given one week to police officers to arrest absent students and their parents in Bunda District.

The directive will also affect those who lured and caused female students to drop out of school.

The minister, who doubles the Mwibara MP, said he was disappointed with the high number of female students dropping out of school in the district due to various reasons including being lured by men.

He said the number of students dropping out of school was still increasing and that the government would not keep mum as it was going to do something to ensure that the students acquired education so they could become future leaders.

“I am giving you (RPC-Bunda) one week to use your investigative skills to question relatives andneighbours so to get these students and all those who continue to interfere with the children’s education. Arrest and deal with them,” he said.
