Lukuvi: Sh22bn set aside for drafting master plan

Mwanza. A total of Sh22 billion has been set aside for drafting a Mwanza master plan, minister of Housing, Lands and Human Settlements Development William Lukuvi said on Friday evening during his meeting with district land officers and councillors in Ilemela District.

According to Mr Lukuvi, the drafting of the new master plan will be ready by August this year.

The minister advised Mwanza residents to ensure they acquired title deeds for their plots. According to Ilemela District Executive Director John Wanga, only 834 residents have acquired title deeds since the beginning of December last year.

Meanwhile, Mr Lukuvi directed all residents, who had processed their title deeds to pick them in two months (up to June 30) to pave the way for the implementation of the master plan in Mwanza City scheduled for August this year.

“Whoever will fail to collect his or her title deed then their land will be included in the master plan and will have nowhere to complain about,” he assured. Backing up the statement, Mwanza Regional Commissioner John Mongella said there were challenges on land valuation.

In the same vein, Ilemela District Executive Director John Wanga informed that till then the council had valuated 28,000 fields and out of these, 16,000 fields had tittle deeds.

“Out of the valuated spaces, only 834 residents had managed to collect their tittle deeds from the responsible offices,” said DED Wanga.
