Dar es Salaam. The Tanzanian junior table tennis player Sara Alidina has qualified for the Mombasa county championships.She won all matches in the sub-county tourney.

Sara, who studies at Aga Khan Academy in Mombasa, was included in the U-18-years-old cate-gory.The 14-year- old is representing Mvita County in the championships. Sara started her campaign with a two straight (2-0) win against Kenyan strong and experienced player Shark-bonu Wambura with 11-3 and 11-6 before outshining Trizah Njoki with 11-2 and 11-4 victory in her second encounter.

She also won 2-0 against Mahma with 11-6 and 11-7 and later against Maliha with 11-5 and 11-2. She also won 11-5 and 12-10 against Krupa and 11-3 and 11-5 sets against Sophia in her final match.

“It was a tough tournament. Gladly I underwent intensive training ses-sions and took the competition seri-ously to win. I thank God for the success. Now my target is to win the trophy and promote my school, my country as well as my record.

This is just the beginning,” she said over phone from Mombasa.Her hope of qualifying for the finals last year was dashed due to an illness.
