Dar es Salaam. Tanzania Railways Limited (TRL) announced Tuesday that it will resume the evening rides to Pugu from the City Centre on Wednesday following rehabilitation of the stretch.

Briefing journalists in the city, TRL Head of Transport Rashid Ng’hwani said that the decision follows completion of the work for rehabilitation of damaged part of the railway line between the Ilala Block and Karakata.

“The service that has been resumed is only the evening train which leaves the city center around 20.15pm and arrives in Pugu around 21.10pm,” he said.

He noted that TRL will only be providing two trips in the morning as the rehabilitation process which early this year is not complete.

According to him, the repairs aim to strengthen the railway line which now transports several more trains compared to previous years.
