Masasi District Commissioner Selemani Mzee told The Citizen Monday, on September 3, that on Sunday night the students stormed the houses of the school’s head, academic teacher and students’ counsellor and destroyed furniture and two motorcycles.

He said during a roll call after the incident some students were discovered to have been absent and that those in school continued with their studies as usual.

“The roll call was made during the same night, the following morning and at noon and several students were not present,” said Mr Mzee.

“During that night it was difficult identify them. So far no student has been being held because they escaped after destroying properties.”
Ndanda MP Cecil Mwambe appealed to the government to exercise wisdom in dealing with the matter by listening to both sides before reaching a compromise and bringing such incidents to an end.

“The students’ action is wrong. Turning a blind eye to such an incident is improper. The government should exercise wisdom and listen to the students who have also their problems and teachers have their problems too,” said Mr Mwambe.
