Dar es Salaam. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa told the parliament on Saturday February 9 that 29 suspects have been arrested in connection with killings of children in Njombe District.

The premier said, quoting home affairs minister, that seven children have so far been killed since the spate of killings started in November, last year.

He said this when moving a motion to postpone Bunge sessions, until April 12.

“Recently, child killings in Njombe have been reported to be on the rise but security organs are on the ground to tame them; as I am speaking, 29 people have been arrested,” the Premier told the house.

He urged local authority’s leaders to borrow a leaf from President John Magufuli by holding meetings with religious leaders just the head of state did recently.

According to him such meetings are vital towards ensuring the safety of the communities.
