US Government to introduce mentorship programme

Dar es Salaam. The government of United States (US) will soon introduce a mentorship programme that will identify youth mentors who will help others.

Speaking on Thursday, September 19, at the 5th edition of the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum (MTLF), Joyce Mndambi, Private Sector Specialist at the US Embassy in Tanzania said the mentored will mentor others in various areas.

"The United States and Tanzania have a relationship based on decades of collaboration between our people and governments to achieve our shared objectives. Empowerment of Tanzanian youth remains a major part of our strategic engagement and partnership in economic empowerment, health and education, especially for women and girls," she said.

She added that the United States stands with the people of Tanzania to create a brighter and prosperous future towards the country’s journey towards self reliance.

Ms Joyce Mndambi further said the Allumni Mentorship Programme which will be starting soon.

“The mentorship program will be carried out in Mwanza, Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam. Alumni from IVLP, YALI, Fulbright Programmes and others will have the opportunity to mentor younger alumni,” she said.

In another development Ms Mndambi urged the government to work with the private sector and listen to the youth’s demands to enable them realize their dreams.

"We need to join efforts after listening to the views from youth so that we can come up together and work on their challenges," she said

She also advised the government to identify the various talents among the youth that will help in creating guidelines to help them achieve their dreams.
