Edenville signs coal supply contract

Dar es Salaam. Australia stock exchange listed Edenville Energy has signed a contract to supply an East African industrial group with up to 4,000 metric tons (MT) of coal for two years.

Mining weekly reported recently that payment for coal will be based on local commercial rates and the mineral will be supplied with a gross calorific value greater than 4,800 kCal/kg.

Edenville is in the process of upgrading its coal project in Rukwa, in south-west Tanzania, to increase throughput and production, as well as ensure that the contract, product and transport requirements are met.

From May 25 to August 9, Rukwa has processed 17,530 tonnes of run-of-mine (RoM) coal, comprising 5,259 tonnes of washed coal and 7,639 tonnes of fine coal. This is equal to an average daily throughput of RoM coal of 230 tonnes per day.

The company announced mid this month that was planning to complete the upgrade of the processing plant at its Rukwa coal project, by the end of September, which will allow for increased throughput.

Rukwa processed about 17,530 t of run-of-mine (RoM) coal, producing 5,259 t of washed coal and 7,639 tonnes of fine coal from May 25 to August 9. A Lamella clarifier water treatment plant is nearing assembly stage completion and was planned to be installed on site for commissioning before this month ends.

In June this year the company extended the validity of its memorandum of understanding (MoU) with hydropower engineering company Sinohydro Corporation of China, over the Rukwa coal project, in south-west Tanzania, to December 2019.
