Dar es Salaam. RwandAir has signed a new codeshare with Turkish Airlines, a move that is set to improve connections for inbound travellers into Africa via RwandAir’s network.

Under the pact, RwandAir passengers travelling from Africa will now have access to the Turkish carrier’s network of more than 300 destinations worldwide, according to the airline’s CEO, Ms Yvonne Makolo.

Again, passengers coming to Africa on Turkish Airlines’ flights into Kigali will now have access to RwandAir’s growing African network in Southern, West, Central, and East Africa in a seamless experience, including their baggage.

Ms Makolo said in a press release yesterday: “We are incredibly excited to have signed this new codeshare agreement with one of the world’s largest and leading carriers, Turkish Airlines.”

She added that the new move would improve connections for inbound travellers into Africa via RwandAir’s extensive continental network.

“RwandAir is always exploring new commercial opportunities to expand its reach into markets that can deliver a financial return and benefit our growing customer base,” said Ms Makolo.

The East African carrier recently concluded a deal with Qatar Airways that gives its passengers access to 65 routes operated by the Doha-based airline.

Turkish Airlines currently has daily flights between Kigali and Istanbul.

RwandAir presently operates flights to 24 destinations in East, Central, West, and Southern Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and Asia.
