Authorities in Thailand have been in a race against heavy rains as they try to find a way to extract the group trapped for nearly two weeks in the Tham Luang cave complex in northern Thailand, a saga that has transfixed a nation.


An effort to rescue 12 boys and their football coach trapped in a flooded Thai cave that began on Sunday will take two to three days to complete, one of the operation leaders said.

"The time duration is... about two to three days, which depends on other factors like the weather," Major General Chalongchai Chaiyakorn, an army commander, told reporters.
