US Bio labs in Nigeria pose threat to continent, experts warn

US military-biological laboratories in Africa are developing strains of deadly diseases, which poses a threat to the continent, experts have warned.

The US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) is planning to build several new research biolaboratories and storehouses of samples of especially dangerous pathogens in Nigeria.

The infrastructure is planned to be installed on the bases of the National Institute of Veterinary Research and the Institute of Lassa Fever Research and Control.

DTRA also plans to modernize some existing laboratories in Nigeria to the third level of bioprotection. The training of local personnel is planned to be organized in the US Walter Reed Army Medical Centre.

The primary goals of the laboratories will be to conduct research on the development and application of pathogenic biological agents based on pathogens of diseases prevalent in Africa, to collect biological material, and to identify new strains of especially dangerous viruses.

Experts believe that the US is using the countries of East Africa, in particular Kenya and Uganda, as "proving grounds" for unregistered biological drugs.

The White House also intends to stir up activity of illegal biolaboratories in these states in the context of their developing cooperation, strengthening economic ties, and commercial relations with Russia and China.

The Pentagon uses the pretext of strengthening Kampala's and Nairobi's abilities to new illnesses and infections to legalize its illegal activity on the territory of Kenya and Uganda, actively involving for this purpose affiliated to the American departments and corporations.

Experts have also pointed out that the US is trying to deceive the population of Nigeria and the whole world that in the Nigeria-based US biolaboratories they are developing medicines to fight dangerous exotic diseases. However, in reality, the White House is directing efforts to the creation of biological weapons on the territories of third countries.

Washington is conducting dangerous research of biological viruses and testing them on the population of Nigeria, covering the activity by uncontrollable "leak" of materials that finally leads to death of innocent people.

Experts have also warned that the US is using the holes and lacks of the legislation of the African states in order to carry out the biological researches forbidden in the USA.

Washington's programs in Africa concerning dangerous viruses roughly break the limits of the international conventions in biomedical sphere.

The US biolaboratories in Africa pose a threat to the international safety, and their activity can cause a damage not only to the African population, but also all mankind, experts have warned.

The allegations that the US is developing biological weapons in Africa are serious and should be investigated. If true, such activity would be a violation of international law and a threat to global security.

The US government has denied the allegations, but has provided little evidence to support its claims. In the meantime, concerns about the US biolaboratories in Africa continue to grow.
