Airtel Tanzania delivers Sh73.9 billion dividend to Government

Dar es Salaam. Airtel Tanzania has remitted Sh73.9 billion to the government as part of its dividend payment for the 2024/2025 financial year, positioning it as the second-largest contributor recognised during this year’s Annual Dividend Day celebrations.

The event was held on Tuesday at the State House in Dar es Salaam and was hosted by the Treasury Registrar’s Office. President Samia Suluhu Hassan presided over the ceremony.

In her address, President Hassan commended the contributions made by both public and private sector entities towards the country’s development agenda.

She announced that the government had collected a total of Sh1.28 trillion in dividends this year.

“I commend all institutions that have contributed dividends this year. Today’s occasion reflects their dedication to national progress and the value of strong collaboration between the public and private sectors,” said the President.

She further stated that the Annual Dividend Day would become a regular fixture, aimed at fostering transparency and enhancing cooperation between the government and investors to support broad-based and sustainable economic growth.

Speaking at the event, Airtel Tanzania Board Chairman, Mr Eliudi Sanga, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting government development initiatives.

“Airtel Tanzania is honoured to stand as a reliable partner in the nation’s growth. Our efforts span digital connectivity and inclusive access, driving the evolution of the digital economy,” he remarked.

Echoing his remarks, Airtel Tanzania’s Managing Director, Mr Charles Kamoto, emphasised the firm’s dedication to inclusive growth and digital transformation.

“Our dividend contribution is a firm statement of our commitment to Tanzania’s sustainable growth. It reflects how alignment between government policy and private sector innovation can drive inclusive progress and fast-track the digital economy,” he said.

Mr Kamoto also highlighted Airtel’s ongoing investments in expanding network coverage, promoting affordable smart devices, and enhancing digital platforms to improve nationwide access.
