Bunge committee irked by 'no release' of livestock, fisheries development budget

The committee chairman Mr Mahmoud Mgimwa told the National Assembly on Thursday that "it's like the team's advice was being ignored."

Dodoma. Parliamentary Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Water has expressed its dissatisfaction with development budget to livestock and fisheries which the team said was not released for two consecutive years.

The committee chairman Mr Mahmoud Mgimwa told the National Assembly on Thursday that "it's like the team's advice was being ignored."

"Our committee could not even inspect development projects becasue there was no money and that affected operations of the Parliament," he said.

Mr Mgimwa was presenting the committee report on the budget of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries which was tabled earlier on Thursday.

The ministry's development budget was Sh6 billion in the current financial year but nothing was released up to March is year.

The Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Mr Luhaga Mpina tabled his estimates requesting Sh56.45 billion for 2018/19 with Sh12.1 billion being for development expenditure.
