The deceased identified as Neema Lenduka Ndewera, 65, a resident of Mbokomu Tema in Moshi District was stabbed in the neck and her body dumped in a pit latrine outside her house.
Moshi. Police in Kilimanjaro have arrested five people in connection to the killing of a woman.
The incident was confirmed by Kilimanjaro Regional Police Commander Wilbroad Mutafungwa, who said preliminary investigations showed that the deceased identified as Neema Lenduka Ndewera, 65, a resident of Mbokomu Tema in Moshi District was stabbed in the neck and her body dumped in a pit latrine outside her house.
According to the RPC, the deceased resided alone as her children live outside the region.
“Sometime in June, 2016, the deceased had left for Arusha to visit her children, leaving behind a cow, two goats and chickens, requesting a neighbour (names withheld) to look after them,” he said.
On her return she learnt that the goats and chickens were missing and the said neighbour could not explain their whereabouts.
According to the RPC, on July 10, her body was found dumped in a latrine.
Tipped off by wananchi the police mounted a search and found the body in the pit with a knife lodged in the neck.
He said the police were still continuing with its investigations and the suspects will be sent to court after completion of investigations.
