Primary school student dies as fire razes dormitory

Bukoba. A standard Five student of St Joseph Rutabo Primary School in Muleba District has been reported dead in a fire that destroyed the school’s dormitory.
Report of the student’s death was confirmed by Kamachumu Ward councilor Danstan Mutagahywa who said the deceased was inside the dormitory when the fire razed the dormitory to ashes.
However, this reporter's efforts to reach Muleba District Commissioner Richard Ruyango and the Kagera Regional Police Commander for further confirmation of the student's death proved futile as the phone call was not answered.
One of the eyewitnesses who was present at the scene, Mr Mudraji Twaha, further revealed that the deceased was a resident of Ruhanga Village.
He also disclosed that following the fatal fire incident, various regional and district leaders and the school management were forced to organise an emergency meeting to discuss the situation.
Police officers were also present at the scene, confirmed Mr Twaha.
