Dodoma. Chief Secretary, Ambassador John Kijazi, has urged information officers in public institutions to furnish their bosses with relevant information ahead of any public presentation.

In his closing remarks at the Annual Government Information Officers’ meeting held here, engineer Kijazi expressed grave concern over some leaders who appeared unprepared before the public while the government had employed information officers to abreast them with relevant information.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Artists and Sports, Prof Elisante Ole Gabriel, said the image of the government institutes, agencies and other organs depend on competences of the communication departments.

Citing an example, he referred to some government officials who recently appeared unprepared in TBC1 program ‘TUNATEKELEZA’. According to him, the offices in question appeared before the state owned TV disorganised, ending up tarnishing the image of their organization.

“Some of you do not help your bosses on how to face the public or cameras when conducting interviews with media. You should understand that you have been employed as to assist them and not left them helplessly” he insisted.
