Stigma against fistula stops women from seeking treatment

                Morogoro. Stigmatisation hinders many women with obstetric fistula from accessing proper treatment. 

Speaking to The Citizen earlier this week, Amref Health Africa National Project Manager, Motherhood and Fistula officer Dr Angela Mapunda said the problem is especially common in rural areas.

Due to that Dr Mapunda said the organisation has been conducting campaigns to raise awareness on the topic to wananchi.

“Many women with fistula problems especially those who live in rural areas have been isolated by the community; we have been conducting campaign to raise the awareness among the communities,” said Dr Mapunda.
