TADB supports establishment of egg production factory in Kigoma

Kigoma. The Tanzania Agricultural Development Bank (TADB) has supported the construction of Mayai Ltd Egg Poultry Factory, owned by Mr Rupinder Sandhu, in Kimbwela Village, Simbo Ward, Kigoma Region.

According to the bank’s Business Development Officer Patrick Kapungu, the factory is among the largest in Tanzania’s Western Zone, which includes Kigoma, Tabora and Katavi.

It is already creating permanent and temporary jobs for local residents, while also benefiting surrounding communities.

To date, more than 40 people have been employed, and the project has helped improve social services such as water wells, electricity, roads, and contributed to the construction of schools and health facilities in nearby villages.

Mayai Ltd Managing Director Rupinder Sandhu said 80 percent of the factory’s financing came from TADB.

He thanked the government for strengthening the bank’s capacity to support agribusiness investments, noting that without its backing, the project would not have been possible.

The factory produces about 3,000 trays of eggs per day — equivalent to 90,000 trays per month — making it a key driver of economic growth in the region.
