Tanzania Vice President Mpango to grace the 10th African auditors’ conference

Arusha. Tanzania Vice President Philip Mpango is expected to officiate the opening of the 10th conference of the African Federation of Internal Auditors (AFIIA) which is scheduled for Arusha on Wednesday.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday April 16, 2024, the Minister of State in the Office of the President - Finance and Planning, Zanzibar, Dr Saada Mkuya, said the conference bringing together internal auditors from different countries, will focus on exchanging experiences, especially in the use of technology.

She said that these stakeholders will discuss how to improve their performance, including the issue of online security, in their quest to assist African government institutions in improving their performance.

"We expect the Vice President to open the conference where these professionals from various countries will exchange experiences. Things are changing with significant technological advancements which has resulted to issues around online security, artificial intelligence and others,” she said.

"When we talk about internal auditing, it must go hand in hand with good governance to ensure officials oversee finances and fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with existing laws and regulations," she added.

The president of the Institute of Internal Auditors Tanzania (IIA), Ms Zelia Njeza, said the conference will be preceded by a meeting of the federation's leaders, including leaders from public and private institutions from Tanzania and other countries outside African.

She said the conference will attract over 1,000 participants from about 27 countries.

"We will focus more on reviewing our performance to ensure that we assist institutions and governments in improving their work. We have seen that with one voice as Africa, we can help our African countries move forward," she said.


"We are focusing more on technology which is rapidly advancing, environmental issues, corruption and good governance," she added.
