Dar Swim Club young members lauded for great performance

Dar es Salaam. The Dar Swim Club (DSC) leadership have commended their swimmers for faring well in the just-ended Fk Blue Marlins Invitational Gala 2024 held recently in the city.

Speaking yesterday, the club’s coach, Radhia Ngereza, said her swimmers had managed to fight for the club and their personal best times (PBTs), despite featuring in many events within two days.

She said the swimmers put instructions from the club’s technical benches into effective practice, thereby encouraging their trainers to continue scouting young swimmers for their benefit and the nation as well.

The event saw the DSC swimmers collecting a total of 2,517 points to beat other 13 clubs in the two-day championship as in the girls’ category DSC collected 1,178 points while 1, 339 points were garnered by the club’s boys to win a golden award in an exciting event. The event also saw Bluefins from Dar es Salaam being placed in the second position after collecting a total of 1,718 points.

The Upanga based club scored 487 points in the girls’ category and 1,231 points in the boys’ category. The third position was held by FK Blue Marlins who collected a total of 778 points out of which 487 were garnered by girls and 539 by boys.

The score sheet shows that, in the girls’ category, Riptide Swim Club were placed second after collecting 490 points and Bluefins were third with 487 points.

Also, in the top five are FK Blue Marlins who collected 239 points, Braeburn Sharks (230 points), Wahoo Swim Club from Zanzibar were placed sixth with 186 points, Premier Swim Club (170 points) and Lake Victory Swim Club were placed eight after collecting 109 points.

Clubs namely, Pigec, Taliss-IST, Train to Gain, Majimaji and Champions Rise were placed in the ninth, 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th positions after collecting 93, 80, 36, 30 and 16 points respectively. In boys, Dar Swim Club emerged the first in the category as Bluefins came second with 1,231 points and FK Blue Marlins were third with 539 points. Other clubs with scores and positions into brackets are, Riptide Swim Club (225 points, 4th), Riptide Swim Club (225 points, 4th), Riptide Swim Club (225 points, 4th), Lake Victoria Swim Club (184 points, 5th), Pigec Swim Club (156 points, 6th) and Braeburn Swim Club collected 64 points to be placed in the seventh position.

The list also includes Taliss-IST Swim Club who were placed in the eighth position after scoring 42 points, Champion Rise Swim Club (13 points, 9th), Wahoo Swim Club (11 points, 10th) and Majimaji Swim Club who scored six points to be placed at the bottom in the boys’ category.

“These are inspiring results, we fielded very young swimmers, who managed to win gold medals, just imagine at their young age to win top honours, this is inspiring and we believe for the next five to 10 years we will be far in the game and having great swimmers,” said Radhia.

She explained that technically they did their best, believing they achieved what they had planned in their training programmes.
