Kili Marathon organisers unveil prizes

Dar es Salaam. Male and female winners of the 16th edition of the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon will take home Sh2 million, organisers of he race unveiled yesterday.

The event has been sponsored by Tigo, Grand Malt, First National Bank, Kilimanjaro Water, Diamond Motors Ltd, Kibo Palace, KK Security, Keys Hotel, TPC Sugar, Simba Cement and KNAUF Gypsum
The runners-up in both disciplines will walk away with Sh1m apiece while Sh650,000 will go to those who will win bronze.
Other prizes ranging from Sh 100,000 to Sh500,000 will be up for grabs for the fourth to tenth finishers.
Speaking during the official launch of the 2018 race, TBL Group Marketing Director Thomas Kamphuis said they were proud to host the 16th edition and stressed that the marathon has been growing every year, thus giving them more reasons to continue sponsoring it. “We believe that the Kilimanjaro Premium Lager Marathon can produce record breakers especially from Tanzania and give them an opportunity to take part in other big races out there. The likes of Felix Simbu have already shown the way,” he said.
He said Kilimanjaro Premium Lager’s huge investment in the Kilimanjaro Marathon’s 42km race and 5km through Grand Malt is meant to nurture talent and called on participants to start preparations.
