Nkya, Dunia sparkle to win at Lina PG Tour in Morogoro

Dar es Salaam. Prominent golfers Isiaka Dunia and Fadhyl Nkya stole the spotlight at the Lina PG Tour Round Four, held over the weekend in Morogoro Region Gymkhana course, with stunning performances that confirmed their quality and consistency on the course.

Dunia, representing Lugalo Golf Club, claimed top honours in the elite amateurs’ category after carding an impressive gross score of 287.

His victory added another highlight to his growing list of achievements in Tanzanian golf. Enosh Wanyeche finished closely behind in second place with 289 strokes, while one of the country’s leading female golfers, Hawa Wanyeche, took third with 306.

The top five elite amateurs were completed by P. Emmanuel, who posted 317, and J. James, who followed closely with 319.

Their strong efforts demonstrated the competitiveness and rising standards within the amateur ranks of the Lina PG Tour.

Meanwhile, in the professional category, Fadhyl Nkya (pictured) produced a solid performance to emerge champion, underlining his dominance in the domestic golf scene.

Nkya, who has been consistent throughout the tour, led a field packed with experienced rivals.

Rajab Idd finished runner-up with a gross of 307, while veteran golfer Hassan Kadio secured third place on countback after tying with 308.

Also on 308 was Nuru Mollel, who settled for fourth position, and the top five was completed by J. Said with 309 strokes.

The Morogoro round was praised for its competitive spirit, with both elite amateurs and professionals showcasing resilience and skill across challenging fairways and greens.

Organisers of the Lina PG Tour lauded the performances, noting that the event continues to provide a vital platform for nurturing golfing talent and enhancing the game’s profile in Tanzania.

The Lina Pro-Am Tour is held in memory of the late Lina Said Nkya, affectionately known in the golfing community as the “Mother Golfer.” Lina passed away on January 19, 2021, in Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region.

Lina Nkya played a pivotal role in the transformation of the renowned Kobe Golf Tournament, elevating it from a local affair into a nationally recognized competition.
