Tufail wins national rally championship title

Dar es Salaam. Tufail Amin Tufail has won the Tanzania National Rally Championship (NRC), which wound up on Sunday in Morogoro.

The final event as per the Automobile Association of Tanzania (AAT) calendar featured ten drivers from various regions and Tufail won the event. As per the rules and regulations, Tufail garnered 30 points to beat Manveer Birdi, who did not finish the race due to mechanical problems.

Before the event, Birdi was leading with 107 points, while Tufail was placed second with 92 points.

Speaking with The Citizen on Monday December 12, Morogoro motorsport official Jumanne Kondo said they witnessed an exciting event and all drivers fought for the top position

Kondo said that Harinder Deere finished in second position, while Dharam Pandya was placed third.

“We are happy to stage the event successfully and finished the AAT calendar with a bang. All drivers had passion of doing well, but others faced mechanically problems and failed to finish the race,” said Kondo.

For his part, Tufail said he is happy to win the title for the second time.

He said there was strong opposition in the top three positions and added he was relieved to have won the championship.
