TotalEnergies ends the year in style, bagging double accolades at PMAYA 2023

President of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan presents an award to the winner of the lubricants oil blending sector, large industries category, TotalEnergies Managing Director, Mamadou Ngom, during the 17th president's manufacturer of the year awards organised by the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI). TotalEnergies has constructed a state-of-the art lubricant blending plant located in Changombe, Dar es Salaam.

Dar es Salaam. TotalEnergies closes the year 2023 on a high note, having scooped double awards during the anxiously awaited and country’s premier awarding event, the 17th President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA).

Graced by Her Excellency, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, the Tanzanian President, the energy powerhouse towered above the rest, having bagged accolades for Best Lubricants Oil Blending Sector (Large Industries Category) and Overall Second Runner Up.

In this highly contentious event, TotalEnergies was benchmarked against the criteria of the uptake of advanced technologies, financial investment, an affable working environment, human resource management, active community sustainability programs and women empowerment Initiatives, among others and ticked all boxes in surprise of the award committee that was vested with the mandate for verifying submissions.

Echoing her sentiments on the secret behind the triumph, Mrs. Getrude Mpangile, Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs said:

“Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) sourced an auditing firm that worked on their behalf, who mingled with staff in our premises to observe and verify that our submissions were genuine and they were finally satisfied”

She added “We satisfied our financial investment through our award-winning high-tech state of the art lubricants blending plant which at least 99 percent of the employees are locals."

Expounding further, she notes the company has firm CSR policies that include education support, initiatives to lift girls in schools, young entrepreneurs empowerment, engagement in environmental projects such as beach cleaning and trees planting, providing road safety education to students in selected public primary schools and motorcyclists.

Going forward, the award serves as a beacon for unequalled economic growth for the company and the country.

“We have made our commitments that are way higher in terms of investment and impacting the Tanzanian community.”

President of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan presents an Overall Second Runner Up award to the TotalEnergies Tanzania Director of Legal and Corporate Affairs, Mrs Getrude Mpangile at the 17th President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards organized by Confederation of Tanzania industries (CTI).

Commenting on the state of the Tanzanian lubricant market, she stated that the company is aware of the evolving demands of the lubricants, signaling the untapped potential of the domestic market for quality lubricants.

These dynamics have significantly moved TotalEnergies to establish a locally owned blending plant to supply quality lubricants at an affordable price.

“With our massive investment in the plant, we have been able to provide the Tanzanian lubricants market with reliable, affordable, and a wide range of lubricants. For example, Rubia lubricant is special for diesel engines while Quartz lubricant is for petrol engines and Hi-Perf 4T 500 is for motorcycles”

Apart from the two accolades, earlier this month the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) awarded TotalEnergies two awards as Compliant Taxpayer in Oil and Marketing Sector for the year 2022/2023 and Timely Payment of Taxes and Duties in Financial Year 2022/2023.

TotalEnergies is proud to have been linked to the contribution of the country’s economy, employment, and community sustainability.

The future outlook for TotalEnergies is to be more innovative, continue to produce quality products and increase investments.
