#BringBackMO: Twitter users in solidarity for kidnapped Mohammed Dewji

Dar es Salaam. An online nationwide campaign is rocking social media in solidarity for the kidnapped dollar billionaire Mohammed Dewji “Mo” whose whereabouts is yet to be known.
Government authorities announced a manhunt for suspected gunmen who abducted the 43-year old Tanzanian tycoon on Thursday morning as he was going to a gym for his routine exercising.
The #BringBackMO campaign started to rock the local virtual communities since yesterday as both socialites and ordinary citizens in the social media platforms have expressed disappointment over the incident and decided to come together to show solidarity with everyone touched with the horrendous act.
Among the people who have come forward to join hands through the campaign is the opposition Civic United Front (CUF)’s director of foreign affairs and international relations Ismail Jussa who tweeted today that his “thoughts and prayers are still with [Dewji] #BringBackMO.”
Mwamvita Makamba, a daughter of former CCM Secretary General Yusuf Makamba, wondered how more than thirty hours passed without news on Mo’s whereabouts.
“We continue to pray for your safe return and your family and loved ones strength during this trying moment #BringBackMO,” she tweeted.
A development and girls’ rights advocate, Carol Ndosi expressed her disappointment that she woke up to no good news on Mo’s whereabouts. “I pray for your safe return….I pray for your family’s strength during this difficult period. #BringBackMO.”
The Change Tanzania director Maria Sarungi Tsehai wrote on Twitter saying that the kidnapping of Mo was “unacceptable, #BringBackMO.”
The local human rights advocacy organization, Legal and Human Rights Centre (LHRC) condemned the incident and expressed solidarity to people both in Tanzania and beyond in calling for #BringBackMO.
