Dar es Salaam. The Tanzania Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Simon Sirro has met with his Rwandan counterpart, Mr Emmanuel Gasana at the ministry of Home Affairs to evaluate what was agreed in 2012 in the fight against crime in both countries.
The two countries had agreed to wage a war on criminal offences, which include digital crimes, cyber-crimes, drugs abuse and terrorism.
The meeting took place today, December 4, 2017, at the ministry of home affairs in Dar es Salaam.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr Sirro said they have so far recorded significant achievements, citing war on drugs abuse as one of the areas they had done well.
“Security has been guaranteed in the Central Corridor through our association. We also have achieved to train some of our workers on various ways of fighting crimes,” said the IGP.
Commander Sirro added that they have been working on combating cyber-crimes countrywide, but admitted that they still face a long a way to win the war.
The cooperation between the two countries has been helping in building capacity on Information and Technology (IT) to Tanzanian experts.
According to the Rwandan IGP CG Kangana he said law informant have been equipped with knowledge provision on crime prevention, exuding hopes that crime rate will soon drop.
He elaborated that the persons committing crimes will have chance of hiding anywhere within the two countries.
