Kigoma. The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has sent a team of experts to Kigoma Region to investigate trade and investment opportunities as it implements its pledge of bolstering economic activities across regions.

The team, led by TanTrade board chairman Christopher Chiza, organisation’s acting director general Edwin Rutageruka, said here on arrival.

Receiving the team, the Kigoma Regional Commissioner, Brigadier-General (rtd) Emmanuel Maganga thanked TanTrade for prioritising his area in the move to boost trade and investments beyond major cities. Mr Maganga said Kigoma has many investment and trade opportunities, dismissing the contention that the region is poor.

“I am always irritated by this argument because there is no empirical evidence to support it. People here work hard. Besides, prospects for improving trade within the region and between Kigoma and other regions and beyond are just numerous,” he said, calling upon young people in the area to seize the opportunities as they unfold.
