Tigo offers e-learning systems to Mwanza secondary schools

Mwanza. Tigo Tanzania has given out internet access points to three secondary schools in Mwanza as it seeks to complement the learning process.

Under the project - conducted in partnership between Tigo and the Ministry the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication - the government will identify and provide a list of schools with computer labs to be connected and also guide the implementation of the project while the telecommunication firm (Tigo) will sponsor the infrastructural development in schools across the country that will include wiring classrooms and installation of wireless LAN with internet access points.

In the three schools, the system will specifically support 11 subjects.

In Arusha, the project will cover Arusha Day, Ilbouru and Arusha secondary schools, according to the Lake Zone director for Tigo, Mr Ali Maswanya.

In Tabora, it will cover Tabora Girls and Milambo Secondary schools while in Dodoma, it will be implemented at Mpwapwa Secondary School.

In Iringa, the project will cover Iringa and Kleruu secondary schools while in Ruvuma, it will benefit Matalawe and Sondea Girls secondary schools. The project will also cover Nombe and Mpenchi secondary schools in Njombe as well as Morogoro Municipal and Mzumbe will be covered in Morogoro Region.

The eSchools project will cover Handeni and Shemsanga secondary schools in Tanga and Lyamungo and Machame Girls in Kilimanjaro. In Mtwara, the project will cover Newala and Masasi Day while in Dar es Salaam, it will go to Mbagala, Kibamba, Benjamin Mkapa and Makumbusho secondary schools.
