Dar RPC orders investigation into claims of a journalist attack by the police

Dar es Salaam. Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander Lazaro Mambosasa has ordered the police to investigate claims tha tpolice officers attacked sports journalist, Sillas Mbise.

A clip showing Mr Mbise, who report for Wapo radio, being beaten by the police at the National stadium in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday August 8 during a friendly match between Simba Sports Club of Tanzania and Ahsante Kotoko from Ghana.

The match was played to mark Simba day, which is held in 8 august every year.

In a statement released on Friday August 10, Mr Mambosasa said they have opened a file basing on the video footage that has gone viral on social media showing how the journalist was beaten.

“The victim is urged to report the incident at the police station to facilitate the investigation,” said Mr Mambosasa in a statement.

The RPC insisted that the police are responsible to protect people and their properties and not beating even offenders who are accepting all the order to be issued by the police officers.
