Opposition: Here are our priority areas in budget

The leader of opposition in Parliament, Mr Freeman Mbowe, told journalists here that while the government was putting all its energies on building the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line, developing the Stiegler's Gorge power project and revamping Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), the opposition would only focus on the five areas which it (the opposition) believes would result into inclusive economic growth.


Dodoma. The opposition bench said on Saturday, June 16, 2018 that Tanzania needs a budget that has only five priority areas.

The areas include: Education, Agriculture, Agricultural value chain as well as Health and Water.

The leader of opposition in Parliament, Mr Freeman Mbowe, told journalists here that while the government was putting all its energies on building the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) line, developing the Stiegler's Gorge power project and revamping Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), the opposition would only focus on the five areas which it (the opposition) believes would result into inclusive economic growth.

"Currently, every economically able person is sending his kid to a private school because of the poor state of infrastructure in public schools.... This is the area that needs increased investments," he said.

He said, if the Sh700 billion that is earmarked for the Stiegler's Gorge project during the 2018/19 financial year was to be injected into agriculture, it would have a more vivid impact within the shortest possible period.
