PM Majaliwa to visit Lindi and Mtwara regions

Mtwara. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa is expected to visit southern regions of Lindi and Mtwara where he is scheduled to launch various development projects.

Mtwara Regional Commissioner, Gelasius Byakanwa told a press conference on Sunday that during the visit Mr Majaliwa is expected to launch three major projects aimed to connect Mtwara and Lindi regions to the national grid.

“Apart from launching the projects at Mahumbika Village in Lindi Region, the Premier will inspect oil infrastructures at the Mtwara Port,” said Mr Byakamwa, adding.

“Mr Majaliwa will also launch the expansion of the power production plant in Mtwara that has installed two plants of 4MW production capacity.”

He said Mtwara port was undergoing major infrastructure development that will enable it handle 25 million liters of petroleum at any given time. It is expected that the first consignments will arrive at the port next month.
