Police reveal where Mo was found as family thanks President Magufuli

Dar es Salaam. The police have said Mr Mohammed Dewji was found at the Gymkhana Club in the city centre where he was reportedly abandoned by his abductors.

Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone Commander Lazaro Mambosasa has confirmed that Mo found his way home after being abandoned there.

“He was driven to and abandoned at Gymkhana in the night,“ he said, adding that the vehicle used during the abduction was also found abandoned nearby, on Ocean Road.

Mo family spokesperson Azzim Dewji also confirmed the businessman was abandoned at the club at around 2.30am before he called his father from a mobile phone. He did not say how Mo got the mobile phone, or if he had one when he was abducted.

Mr Mambosasa explained that the abductors blindfolded Mo and sped with him to an unknown hideout on the day of the abduction before his dumping at the club last night.

Speaking to The Citizen today, Mr Azzim said the family was pleased that Mo was back and looked healthy.  He said they were appreciative of President Magufuli’s help during the search for their kin.

“Mo is 100 per cent fit, he looks fine only that he may be troubled psychologically because of the experience,” he said in an interview.

“We thank the President for ordering security organs to make sure he is found. We are happy he is now home and safe.”  According to Azzim, Mo will later today address the media.

The businessman who is billed the youngest billionaire in Africa disappeared after gunmen abducted him in Oyster Bay as he went for his usual morning workout at Colosseum Hotel gym.

The identity and motive of those behind the abduction is yet to be established. On Friday Mr Sirro said the police had intensified the search for Mo and that they had reached out to Interpol for help.
