The Singida Regional Administration has held a special meeting to evaluate itself and discuss the performance of the region that fared badly in this year’s Standard Seven national examinations holding the last position at the national level.

According to the Singida Regional Commissioner, Dr Rehema Nchimbi, the meeting, which took place last Friday at the conference hall of her offices, was also attended by district commissioners, council directors, education officers and members of the regional secretariat.

Speaking to reporters at her offices last Saturday, Dr Nchimbi mentioned some of the challenges that led to the region to hold the 26th position this year from the 12th position last year as including teachers continuing to teach without any supervision, a situation that made them jail to fulfil their duties.

The other challenges, the RC said, the education officers and parents were not close and that the teaching burden and other important issues of promoting education were left to teachers alone. (Gasper Andrew)
