They were followed by Champion Rise Swimming Club with 753 points, while Kwanza International School finished third with 423 points.

The gala featured girls and boys who had not competed in the competition organised by the Tanzania Swimming Association (TSA).

The event was sponsored by Pepsi, Champion Rise Limited and individuals.. Champion Rise director Amina Mfaume said yesterday that they had scouted many swimmers and their plan was to stage the event every four months. Amina said they were thrilled to see swimmers perform various styles with confidence even though they had minimal training.

She explained that the task ahead was to gather swimmers and give them special training to enable them to master modern swimming techniques.

“We need to develop swimmers for the benefit of the nation. Our club has been influenced by the turn up and my coaches will ensure the exercise is conducted in order to improve their standards to attain the qualities required by TSA and international swimming governing bodies,” said Amina. According to her, there were many gifted youngsters out there who needed grooming and exposure to hit their peak.
