Tizeba: No restrictions for farmers to export their crops

What you need to know:

Dr Tizeba said that farmers are allowed and will only be inspected by Tanzania Revenue Authority at border points to keep records of exportation.

Dodoma. Agriculture minister Dr Charles Tizeba said on Wednesday that Tanzanian farmers were not restricted to export their produces amid pressure from the MPs that the government was denying them market through an export ban.

Dr Tizeba said that farmers are allowed and will only be inspected by Tanzania Revenue Authority at border points to keep records of exportation.

"My plea is that the farmers should make sure that they reserve food... They should not sell everything," said Dr Tizeba.

This is one of the issues raised by the lawmakers who said the government was limiting market of produces in the name of food security.
