Zanzibar. Madungu houses in Chake Chake, Pemba, will not be up for grabs, the government has said.

That was said by Land, Housing, Water and Energy deputy minister Juma Makungu Juma.

He was responding to a question by Chake Chake member of House of Representatives Suleiman Sarhan Said today, December 3, 2018.

In his question in the House of Representatives at Chukwaji, Unguja, Mr Sarhan wanted to know why the government was not selling the state-owned Madungu houses as it had no funds to renovate them.

Mr Makungu said the government had no plans of selling the houses owned by the Zanzibar Housing Corporation and instead it was looking for funds to renovate them.

According to him, under the corporation’s action plan for 2018/19 financial year, the houses will be repaired and residents to hire them.
